As the pedestrian safety coordinator for an urban county, I had been looking for a device that pedestrians could carry easily and that would give them greater visibility at night. I’m a pedestrian myself in my commute to work, so I know what most pedestrians are up against.

When I received the ‘cold call’ email from PedSafe.com, I thought it was another one for the spam bucket. What a mistake that would have been! Intrigued by the information provided in the email, I checked out their website. It looked promising.

At my request, PedSafe sent me some samples of the Coreflect reflectors. As soon as I received them, I knew I’d found what I was looking for – a reflector that came in enough shapes and colors to appeal to all ages and cultural groups, at a price we could afford.

I put in the first order of a 1,000 (pink hearts and green dinosaurs) that would be used as prizes to all the young children that go through our crosswalk training exercises. At one Health Fair, the 250 children (and parents) who went through the training were thrilled with the reflectors. I was happy, because it gave me a chance to impress upon them the need to be visible at night.

At our first student-to-student training session in which 20 high school students (that we had trained) were teaching 80 second graders, we found both the youngsters and the teenagers eager to get a reflector. I’ve ordered another 3,000 reflectors for the expansion of this program next fall and for our on-going pedestrian safety efforts.

I was also totally satisfied with the service the PedSafe staff provided. Both orders arrived promptly and exactly as requested.

I was pleased to find pedestrian reflectors in North America. Our 3 children used reflectors over 30 years ago in Europe.  Now I am happy to provide protection to our grandchildren.
